Funny things my kids say #26

ferry

Yesterday, The Husband and the two boys were taking part in the Hometown Hockey activities that were happening on the Dartmouth side of the city. I had dropped them off earlier in the day, and after the festivities, they took the ferry across the harbour to catch a bus home. Our ferry boats are for foot and bicycle traffic only (pictured above) and aren’t large.

ET obviously couldn’t remember the previous times he had been on one, because last night as they boarded the boat, the 9-year-old asked his father…

“Is there a buffet?”

Not sure what kind of lavish cruise he was expecting for the 10 minute crossing.

As I was trying to get the 6-year-old to bed, he began his patented stall…

ET: I can’t fall asleep… I’m hungry.
Me: Well, you should have eaten all of your dinner.

“But I’m really, really hungry… can I have gum?”

Where is Willy Wonka when you need him?

For this trip, we planned to spend the largest chunk of our time in Rome and we had only pre-booked a few excursions.

I won’t get into all of the details, because there are just too many details. Instead, I want to tell you about two specific tours that we did. They were fantastic! Continue reading

I’ve seen the future and it is expensive

A few years ago if you had asked me what would be the biggest expense we would face as a family, other than buying a house, I would probably have said car or vacations. I would have thought about “big-ticket” items.

I would have been wrong… it’s turned out to be food!
