For a couple of the blogging awards that I’ve been given, part of the deal is that I’m meant to answer 11 personal questions and/or tell you 7 interesting things about myself. I’ve been putting this off because I hate doing stuff like that. However, if I want to be an upstanding citizen of the blogosphere, I need to complete this social contract.
Because Iβm oddly fond of lists of 11 things (and I hate the lack of control of having to answer random personal questions) I’ve combined and modified the challenge. Today, I present to youβ¦
11 potentially interesting things about me
1) I used to be a professional tennis chair umpire. (This is more to provide context for some of the other points)
2) For many years, I taught tennis at Cuban resorts so that I could have free vacations for myself and a guest.
3) Before children, I was an avid scuba diver. I once lived aboard a boat for 2 weeks on the Great Barrier Reef and did four dives a day, including night diving with sharks.
4) The Husband and I got married in Cuba and didn’t understand a word of the official documents we signed. We regularly use this against each other as leverage.
5) I would love to skydive but would be afraid to bungee jump.
6) I often have to turn away and laugh when my children hurt themselves doing something stupid.
7) I was once held at gunpoint on the side of a dark highway in Caracas, Venezuela in a shakedown by corrupt police officers.
8) I learned to downhill ski at the age of three. It’s still my favourite sport!
9) When I was one, I burned my hands very badly and have no fingerprints on most of my fingers.
10) When I was working in the US, I would sometimes use a fake accent when I ordered take-away food at a restaurant, just for fun.
11) In an alternate universe, Iβm a Broadway sensation. Jazz hands!
Thanks for reading.
Anyone else in the mood for sharing?
Wow you’ve had such an interesting life! Mine life is extremely boring hahaha.
Remember, these are 11 things in 40 years… and most of them happened at least 10 years ago. There is a whole lot of boring going on over here! If you sat down and came up with 11 things and forgot the rest, your life would sound pretty interesting as well. π
Only 11??? I am sure you are living a full life. Me still working on it. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for reading! π
OK, now I feel really boring. I got married in Vancouver, I’m afraid to scuba dive and I still have fingerprints. But my father bungee jumped off the highest peak in New Zealand when he was almost 80 years old. Does that count?
Your father is definitely a very interesting thing about you, but there is lots more. I think you have a ton you could list but you just don’t want to admit to most of them in public!
Those 11 things are really interesting of you. : ) Funny though, but agree with #6.. Most interesting part is #8, I love downhill skiing to, and your so good to learn it at the age of three, no wonder your like super boy : )
Thanks for reading! Yes, I was very lucky to learn at such a young age. I started my boys skiing when they were 4. So much easier to learn when you are young. π
Really? Oh! Thanks for the new idea, I think I must apply that with my niece and nephews : )
I don’t think I could come up with even 3 about my own life – I’m impressed!! π
Don’t give me that! I could name 11 incredibly interesting things about you and I’ve known you for less than a year… Do you want me to start?
I knew about the tennis thing which I already thought was interesting, but the others make you even more interesting! And you didn’t even have to play the Canadian card!! That’s good stuff.
I always hold back the Canadian card… Except that time in Caracas!
Wow, you’ve had an adventurous life! This must help you as the mother of boys π
Well, they can be awfully similar to a shark feeding frenzy. And a corrupt shakedown… Yeah, I’m starting to see your point!
Steph, we have so many commonalities – except for the tennis of course……and the lack of fingerprints (which is great if you decide to become a serial killer) – oh, and the married in Cuba thing. Come to think of it, maybe just #5.
But Susan, those are just the interesting things… We still have all the boring things in common! π
#6 is priceless. π Laughing here, too. The remainder, all fascinating. Thanks for sharing.
No, thank you for reading! And I’m sure all parents do #6, even if they don’t admit it.
